Culture at the heart of Europe
The New European Bauhaus (NBE) is an open initiative in the making. It was launched in early 2021 by the President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, as a determined action to improve the lives of citizens. It calls for thinking about how the spaces in which we live should be, taking into account the culture of each place, but at the same time strengthening the links that unite the different European countries. The NBE is the seed of a project full of hope that has started in Europe, but its momentum is unstoppable and wants to spread to the rest of the world.
Can you help us to spread its ideas?
Spain in the New European Bauhaus
The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, through the General Directorate of Urban Agenda and Architecture, is the body designated by the European Commission to coordinate the NBE initiative in Spain and acts as the National Contact Point. Its function is to disseminate the NBE in Spain, encouraging the participation of multiple agents and involving and sharing the different actions and proposals carried out or being carried out in the country. Its aim is to join forces and ensure that the spirit of the NBE permeates the policies of every town, city or region in Spain.
The Polytechnic University of Madrid, through the School of Architecture as a reference institution in the field, cooperates with the General Directorate to analyze, promote and position Spain’s contribution to the NBE at international level.
