This coming June, our country will become a hub of creativity and sustainability thanks to the satellite events of the latest edition of the New European Bauhaus Festival.
To promote the values of this European Commission initiative, activities and workshops have been organized in in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats, totaling 14 events, which will take place between June 9 and 14. In this post, we’ll tell you all the details about them.
In-person activities
NEB Regional Festival in Murcia. Eurovértice Consultores through the NEB UrbACTivistas local chapter. June 9–13 in Murcia, Jumilla, Santomera, Lorquí, Cartagena, and Blanca. Activities focused on nature, local identity, and social cohesion.
3rd Repoblación Festival. Repoblación Foundation. June 12–13 in Valverde de Burguillos. Under the slogan “Think, transform, experience the rural world,” this event will feature interviews, live music, workshops, and community activities addressing the phenomenon of “depopulated Spain.”
Wandering Workshop. n´UNDO. June 11–14 in Almería. This is a traveling research project focused on the challenges facing the landscape and its communities, which will spend four days exploring the Cabo de Gata Natural Park and its surroundings.
Environment Festival. Leganés City Council. June 13. A community event focused on sustainability and local climate action. It will promote responsible habits and neighborhood participation through activities accessible to all ages.
Regenerating Madrid: Learning, Design, and Community. Madrid City Council. June 12. This session, part of the Regenera Madrid Plan, will foster dialogue among municipal authorities, residents, and associations regarding NEB values.
FACTS, Mediterranean NEB Festival. Contemporary Architecture Foundation. June 9–13. A forum that will reflect, through debates and presentations of success stories, on the role of art, science, and technology in shaping urban environments.
DISPLACED II. ESPRONCEDA Institute of Art and Culture, and Sustainable Art Association. June 9–12 in Barcelona. This project combines painting, sculpture, and digital technology to reflect on the loss of wetlands in the Llobregat Delta.
Open House at the Basque Biodesign Center. June 10 in the Basque Country. This is an opportunity to learn about current projects as well as the center’s facilities focused on the research and development of biomaterials.
GreenInCities: A Network of Living Cities. Fab City in collaboration with the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia. June 13 in Barcelona. Workshops for families seeking to appreciate nature and sustainable building strategies.
Hybrid events
MADRIDMORFOSIS. Creating a better city for everyone. Madrid City Council and the Madrid Association of Civil Engineers. June 10. Seminar and roundtable discussion with professionals from the urban planning and architecture sectors and city officials.
NEB Attitudes Forum. The HUT Agency. June 11 in Barcelona. This in-person and virtual forum will explore how urban transformation can emerge from experimental design and the social economy.
Resilient Cities: Democratic Participation and Ecology. Rethinking to Build Inclusive and Sustainable Communities. Mentes Itinerantes. June 11 in Santiago de Compostela. It will focus on the importance of social connections for accelerating change and the ecological transition in cities.
Beyond the Sea: The Journey Continues. Navigatio Bay of Santander Association. June 9–13 in Santander. Raising awareness about the vulnerability of Cantabria’s coastal areas and the maritime heritage of its communities and villages.
Virtual Conference
Are we integrating the Inclusion Principle into the NEB? Matchmaking Event Exploring European Funding Opportunities. Action Against Hunger through its SPACE-NEST project. June 10. A networking event that will bring together members of the civil society sector, researchers, and technical professionals. It will include sessions on best practices and opportunities for dialogue.
