What happens when a disused church is transformed into a new venue for culture? And when does an old factory come alive with creativity once again? On September 24, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. CET, the New European Bauhaus Community will reflect on these questions in a new spotlight session, which will focus on new uses for underutilized built heritage. In other words, it will explore ways to give architecture a second life through craftsmanship, culture, and community participation.
The event will bring together industry professionals to share real-world projects, experiences, and lessons learned regarding adaptive reuse—a strategy that can transform forgotten places into new spaces for creation, gathering, and inclusive activities.
Among the participants are Vera Gregorio, a geographer, urban planner, and coordinator of the HUB-IN Horizon project, which aims to regenerate historic urban areas while preserving their cultural and social identity; Valentino Tignanelli, an architect and project director, as well as deputy coordinator of the new Artic NEB Local Chapter; and finally, Mariachiara Esposito, an expert in European cultural policy and coordinator of the newly created European Association for Resilient Cultural Heritage, funded by the Horizon Europe program.
