The 2025 World Expo is proving to be a real opportunity to share the values and objectives of the New European Bauhaus with members of the international community. After several meetings held in May, the European Commission’s initiative returns to Japan with renewed enthusiasm to reflect on the relevance of Sustainability, Beauty, and Inclusion in built environments.
On September 22, we will have an online meeting from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., in a session divided into two parts: “Green Cities” in the first part and “Sustainable Architecture in Harmony with Nature” in the second. Urban ecosystems are becoming living laboratories where not only green policies are tested, but also biomaterials and projects that are committed to the circular economy.
Water management, strategies for resilience to extreme weather, and natural resource efficiency will be some of the topics discussed by various professionals, whose visions will complement European and Japanese perspectives on sustainable design and urban transformation.
Among them are Jean-Enric Paquet, European Union Ambassador to Japan; Jessika Roswall, Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience, and Competitive Circular Economy (CE); Margot Roose, Deputy Mayor of Tallinn, Estonia; Takeharu Yamanaka, Mayor of Yokohama, Japan; and Hideyuki Yokoyama, Mayor of Osaka. Also attending will be Marcos Ros Sempere, Spanish Member of the European Parliament; Japanese architect Shigeru Ban; and Albert Edman, Head of Development at the Swedish Research Institutes.
The event can be followed via free streaming, although it will also be recorded for later viewing.
