Until March 27, organizations and entrepreneurs can send the European Commission specific examples of projects and actions that demonstrate how culture and the arts act as true catalysts for innovation in areas such as technology, the environment, and industry, contributing to improving quality of life.
Initiatives may come from the Horizon Europe program or other initiatives, provided that creativity and the arts play a central role in their development and effectiveness. In line with the recent EC Proposal for a Recommendation on the New European Bauhaus, it is essential to take into account the cultural, creative, and aesthetic dimensions of climate and sustainability goals.
This document also highlights the ability of artists and professionals in the cultural sectors not only to disseminate the principles of the NEB, but also to overcome the current challenges of ecological transition, carbon neutrality, and circularity. With this call, the Commission seeks to highlight artistic and cultural strategies that can strengthen Europe’s innovation ecosystem and also serve as a basis for the development of future policies.
Based on all the examples received, a report will be drafted that will map out the proposals and offer inspiration to policymakers, generating greater interest in art-science-technology collaborations. Projects can contribute to innovation at one or more levels:
- Production level: tangible products, services, prototypes, or solutions.
- Process level: innovative methodologies, co-creation formats, participatory approaches, or research processes.
- System level: changes in frameworks, governance, or infrastructures that shape how innovation occurs.
The selection notification will be made on April 30. All requirements and eligibility criteria are detailed at this link, along with the application form. An email address has also been set up for urgent questions that may remain unresolved: RTD-DEMOCRACY-EQUALITY-CULTURE@ec.europa.eu.
