BBK Kuna (BBK Bank Foundation).

BBK KUNA is one of the most ambitious projects of the BBK Banking Foundation, a foundation working on improving the lives and social welfare of the territory of Biscay whose mission has always been to promote social projects that contribute to the sustainable development and regeneration of the region where its main activity is carried out and with a collaborative and open vision of local, national, European and international stakeholders and trends. To provide a space for its social innovation projects BBK carried out the refurbishment of The Cradle House of Bilbao and built BBK Kuna (craddle): the House of the SDGs, an innovation centre that gathers all agents of society in the search of solutions to challenges such as ageing, migration, climate change, poverty, etc. BBK Kuna is a reference centre for the social innovation ecosystem in the Basque Country and embedding NEB values and activities within its own programmes will ensure capillarity of the European network.

BBK Kuna: the House of the SDGs is a new space for social innovation that aims to co-create solutions for current and future challenges and build a more sustainable future under the 2030 Agenda umbrella. Being part of a big banking foundation, it embeds the experience of acquiring and managing financial support for underprivileged social groups and organisations and promotes the creation of essential infrastructure for the development of the province.

BBK KUNA promotes innovative projects, from the heart of one of the most vulnerable neighbourhoods of the city of Bilbao, providing solutions to challenges such as the ageing population and the loneliness of elderly persons, climate change, the technological revolution, the transformation of cities or migration. The projects are divided in two big areas of work:

  1. Organisations (academia, public administration, companies and civil society).
  2. Citizen participation.
