Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid.

The teaching of the specific subjects currently covered by the ETSAM Degree Program started many years prior to its creation and even a few years before the Fine Arts Academy of which it formed part was launched. Architecture was the first specific “program” of all granted at UPM today which was offered in a generalized way, and the training has been given on a continuous basis up to the present. Core values of the ETSAM’s architecture teaching include: Capacity to tackle creatively the project problem on all its different levels: analytical, conceptual and developmental; integration of scientific, technical and humanistic knowledge; capacity to respond at all the different scales of the project: detail, building, relationship with the city, spatial planning; other learning opportunities with limited credits like field trips, participation in professional societies and organizations, and other program-specific of campus-wide and community-wide activities. Our contribution to the New European Bauhaus should be: participation in workig groups, workshops, webinars, promotion among our students of the activities and values of European Bauhause.

The training of architects as a fundamental mission, offering quality education, both at undergraduate and postgraduate level, that meets the needs of society and the building and urban planning sectors, as well as the challenges of scientific and technological knowledge and innovation in both sectors. All this, not only through the transmission of knowledge but also demonstrating its commitment to social progress, seeking to be an example for its environment. Scientific, technological and humanistic research as a complementary mission, in both sectors of building and urban planning. This encompasses both basic and applied research, and requires the training of experts in the different research processes and in scientific-technical advice to the sectors, support for doctoral programmes, as well as the transfer of knowledge to society in general, and to professionals and companies in the sector in particular.
