The Institute for Biodigital Architecture & Genetics (iBAG), within UIC Barcelona (Universitat Internacional de Catalunya), has 3 fields of action: research, teaching and practice, through the Genetic Architectures Research Group & Office (research and practice) and the Master in Biodigital Architecture program (teaching). Basically, it is about applying new biological and digital techniques (and its fusion) to architecture and design: from nature & computation, from natural intelligence & artificial intelligence, from bio-learning & machine-learning, with the big potential of bio-manufacturing & digital-manufacturing. Done by an interdisciplinary group of architects, designers, artists, engineers, geneticists, art historians and philosophers. Thus, since 2000, the results of its research, teaching and practice are very numerous: countless activities, publications and projects carried out, apart from the aforementioned Master, doctoral theses, conferences, annual seminars, workshops, and exhibitions, from graphic designs and objects to architecture and urban planning projects. In short, it is about, from the frontier of knowledge, putting a grain of sand in the largest “anthill” in the known universe, our planet, helping its progress, its sustainability, its culture… So, being partner of the New European Bauhaus, we desire that our efforts, our research, our results, become also part of the New European Bauhaus, improving a more beautiful, sustainable and inclusive world.
