Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University.

RMIT is a global university of technology, design and enterprise. Within our large-scale research and education institution, RMIT Europe relates to NEB in the areas of design, architecture, and technological innovations for sustainable urban and digital futures, as well as creative practice-based research methods for inclusive co-creation with and in communities. Serving as a gateway between Europe and Asia, RMIT extends the reach of the NEB, bringing global partners to the table. From citizen led designs for sustainable urban design to practice led research (PRS) training, RMIT educational and research initiatives actualize NEB values and principles. For example, Studio V connects students with community stakeholders in Vietnam to grapple with social and environmental issues via a series of creative outreach projects; Care-full Design Lab brings international activists and researchers together, catalyzing transformational urban future-making, and the Climate Change Transformation Group in Melbourne fosters real transformations by co-producing research with practitioners, policymakers and communities. We collaborate on several NEB-related EU funded projects around sustainable and liveable cities (RECETAS, EdiCitNet), creative approaches to mitigating climate change (CreaTures), energy sensitive digital transformation (CULTURAL-E). We coordinate Marie Curie Doctoral networks such as REDI, supporting 41 new PhD positions with academic and industry partners in Europe.

RMIT exists to create transformative experiences for our students, getting them ready for life and work, and to help shape the world with research, innovation, teaching and engagement. RMIT embraces the task of extending the benefits of a fast-innovating, high-skill knowledge economy to our global community. We are dedicated to helping shape a new urban and industrial renaissance in the global economy. We are driven by impact and focused on the challenges and opportunities emerging around us. As the world economy transforms, we have a responsibility to make the resulting changes work for the whole of society. Our distinctive approach to connected education and research links creative ideas with technical knowledge. We empower students to shape their own lives, achieve impact and create valued places for themselves through work and engagement in the wider community. RMIT understands how to do this during a period of deep technological change – because we have been through it before. RMIT began helping people and organisations make the transition to an industrial society more than a century ago. RMIT remains a meeting place for people from diverse origins, a place of exchange and dialogue, creative conflict and collaboration where knowledge and skills are applied to create new understanding and value. Today, we embrace the challenge of helping to drive urban regeneration in a global economy. We are passionately committed to growing interdisciplinary expertise and creative thinking, to solve the problems directly relevant to the lives of the communities we serve. RMIT has three campuses in Melbourne, two in Vietnam, and a European centre located in Barcelona, Spain. We offer programs through partners in Singapore, Hong Kong, mainland China, Malaysia, India and Europe. We use our global reach and knowledge to enrich the student experience and increase the impact of our research and innovation.

RMIT Europe is the EU hub of RMIT global university. We facilitate research, innovation, and educational collaborations in Europe for the university. We design and host creative arts-based workshops, conferences, educational programs, and internships in Spain and elsewhere in Europe, work with partners across EU and beyond on various research projects studying innovations for sustainable development and foster links and opportunities between students, industry partners, and government and local community stakeholders across Europe. Through these activities, RMIT helps to provide creative and effective solutions to societal challenges, plays a role in shaping the public policy environment, and contributes to sustainable prosperity and impact in the communities that we work with.
