The project is being carried out in one of the largest Roma communities in the country. The initiative seeks to transform the outdoor environment of the community house run by the NGO ETP Slovakia through collaborative workshops in which the residents themselves design and build shade structures and modular furniture. These interventions are carried out using reused or recycled materials, with the aim of creating meeting areas and mitigating the effects of extreme heat, thus improving the habitability and quality of the public space.
Beyond the physical improvement of the environment, the initiative promotes social inclusion and empowerment of the Roma community by encouraging the active participation of children, young people and adults in design, decision-making and construction. This participatory approach reinforces a sense of belonging and provides useful skills that can be applied in other areas of work.
