Winner of the NEB 2025 Champions Award in the ‘NEB Affordable Housing Award’ category. 

The Republica project is a regeneration initiative for a former industrial area in northern Amsterdam. Essentially, it has enabled the development of a circular, car-free urban village that combines living, working, sports and electric mobility within a cohesive urban block of six sculptural buildings and green public spaces.

The main target groups include urban dwellers, young professionals, families and entrepreneurs seeking a modern and environmentally friendly lifestyle, through the use of solar panels, battery storage, rainwater harvesting and systems for converting food waste into clean energy. The initiative is also part of the European-funded ATELIER Positive Energy Districts, making it a real-world testing ground for sustainable innovations.
